Show Notes

Miriam Tannen

Millbrook resident, Miriam (Mimi) Tannen, began her career as an RN in the Maternity Department at Sharon Hospital in Connecticut.  One of her accomplishments there was to develop and conduct a series of parenting classes for first-time parents after observing their anxiety when heading home with their newborns.  These were the first of their kind to be held in Connecticut and eventually Mimi was able to include sibling and grand parenting classes.

In 1993, she became a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  Initially, she worked in a private practice in Sharon, CT and later at Planned Parenthood in Poughkeepsie, New York.  Eventually, she became the Director of Clinical Services for Planned Parenthood of the Mid-Hudson Valley, where she remained until her retirement from nursing.

With a RN degree from Dutchess Community College, a BS from Empire State College, and her NP from Planned Parenthood (in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania), Mimi brings a broad base of knowledge and experience with her.

Currently, she is working in Poughkeepsie, NY at MPI, Inc., an engineering and manufacturing company that she and her husband own.  Mimi also serves on the board of Sharon Hospital.

She is one of the original members of the Foundation for Community Health’s board where she served terms on the Governance Committee and as a Chairperson.  Mimi is pleased to return to the FCH board for a second term and is currently serving as Vice Chair.
